I love the small business movement. Maybe it’s the nostalgia of years past when life appeared less complicated or hurried and more neighborly or community driven. The world wide web has opened my own shop and my own purchases through small businesses that are literally around the world!
I stay cozy wearing my scarf from VeraJayne handmade in South Africa with love.
And I carry everything but the kitchen sink in my waxed canvas bag skillfully handcrafted by MerryMery in Chile.
When sending my own WearLoveNow packages out to dear buyers around the world I use happy washi tape from another Etsy seller, CMWrapNShipSupply to decorate each package.
Why do I purchase from small businesses and fellow Etsy shops rather than big box or chain stores? I believe in entrepreneurship and admire family businesses. I am inspired and touched by the stories behind the shops and handiwork. The personal connection is valuable in this day and age of technical and 3rd party transactions.
So if you haven’t bought local in a while or have never heard of Etsy, the global handmade marketplace, I would encourage you to consider that tomorrow is officially Small Business Saturday…a perfect day to support any of the above with love!
